Metro VR Game

It’s been a while since the Metro franchise last appeared with the release of Exodus. But the series made a reappearance during Sony’s State of Play showcase with Metro Awakening, a new single-player VR game.

Earlier this week, a blog post from Deep Silver revealed that a Metro sequel is in development. This announcement upset many fans who wanted a regular console or PC title.

Apocalyptic world

After a long hiatus, the Metro franchise is finally returning, and this time in virtual reality. In a surprise announcement during Sony’s State of Play Showcase today, Deep Silver and Vertigo Games announced Metro Awakening, a VR-exclusive game that will take the series into an unforgiving post-apocalyptic world with a prequel storyline penned by Metro author Dmitry Glukhovsky.

The upcoming game will be developed for PSVR2, Meta Quest 2 and 3, and PC VR, and it will use the series’ signatures of atmospheric exploration, storytelling, and stealth combat to give players the most immersive experience in the franchise yet. In it, you’ll play as Serdar, a doctor on a desperate search for his wife amid the mutant-ridden tunnels of post-apocalyptic Moscow. As your courage and sanity are pushed to their limits, you’ll navigate a complex original-yet-standalone storyline while reliving the apocalyptic events of 2033 and Last Light through a new perspective.

While the announcement is exciting for Metro fans, it’s also a bit of a disappointment to fans who don’t have one of the necessary headsets. The good news is that another mainline entry in the Metro franchise is still in development for current-gen consoles and PC, and will be a traditional non-VR title.

Earlier this week, rumors surfaced that the next Metro game would be a VR-only release, which understandably upset some fans of the series. Thankfully, the development team has clarified that Awakening is a separate project from this other mainline entry, and that the traditional non-VR version will continue to be developed by 4A Games.

The Metro team is taking its time with this, and it will be some time before we’ll see the first trailer for the upcoming game. But until then, fans can relive the past and get excited for what’s to come by picking up the Metro Redux Collection, which includes both 2033 and Last Light in an ultimate double-game pack. It’s available now on Steam. It’s a great way to experience the unique post-apocalyptic world of the Metro series with incredible new lighting, physics, and weather effects.

Dynamic FPShooter in retro style

The creator of the game wanted to create a fast-paced FPS that challenges players with dynamic level design and challenging enemies. They also wanted to incorporate new mechanics, such as split shot and coin flip, into the game. Adding new enemy variants like sniper enemies that teleport, forcing the player to seek height and stay alert, also adds to the game’s challenge. This, along with alternative shooting methods and a variety of jumping levels, increases the gameplay’s replayability.

Fight against countless robots

Fight countless robots in this action-packed Metro VR game, available now. Fight using a variety of weapons and upgrade your arsenal. Save mankind from the mad artificial intelligence in this fast-paced shooter!

The Metro series of games, inspired by internationally best-selling novels by Dmitry Glukhovsky, has always sought to immerse players in the terrifying aftermath of nuclear Armageddon. Games like Metro 2033, Metro: Last Light, and Metro Exodus delivered immersive first-person experiences that were a marvel of modern gaming.

Now, with the rise of virtual reality, a new Metro VR game is being developed exclusively for the platform. Called Metro: Awakening, this game will feature a unique, new gameplay style that blends survival and stealth action with cutting-edge VR technology. Players will feel the panic as they scramble for gas mask filters, experience the pulse-quickening charge of their flashlight in the darkness, and embrace the heart-pounding intensity of combat.

While many people still scoff at the idea of a VR Metro, there are those who are excited to see what the future holds for the series. Recently, a trailer for the game was released that gives fans a glimpse at what to expect.

The trailer for Metro: Awakening shows a new gameplay system that allows players to fight against a horde of robots while they collect weapons and gear. The game will also include a variety of different missions and challenges that will put the player’s skills to the test.

In addition to the countless robots that players will have to battle, the game will also feature some new environments and mechanics that are exclusive to VR. Players will be able to use their flashlight to navigate the environment and discover hidden loot, and they will also be able to look for power stations and repair them as they progress through the game.

The developers of the game, Scott Matalon and Michael Clebnik, are optimistic about the game’s future, but they acknowledge that VR is a limiting technology. It is expensive to purchase a headset and a gaming laptop, and the latest Steam Hardware and Software Survey indicates that only 2% of players have a VR headset of any sort.

No time to lose

The latest entry in the Metro series, Metro Awakening, is a VR-exclusive shooter that takes the world of Moscow’s irradiated subway tunnels and mutants to new heights. The game follows Serdar, a doctor who is scouring the Metro in search of medication to save his sick wife. In the process, he encounters a supernatural threat that will test his courage and sanity. The gameplay is similar to other Metro games, but the new setting and immersive VR experience will make this one of the most exciting entries in the franchise.

Some gamers were upset to find out that the next Metro game would only be a VR release. The announcement came shortly after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and it left many fans feeling let down. Now, the team behind the Metro series has released an update that should reassure fans.

In the video, Metro Awakening is compared to STALKER, and NikZ points out that being similar does not break copyright laws. The video also shows a lot of similarities between the games, including the same settings and lighting mechanics. However, he stresses that he did not rip off Metro and does not own the IP rights to it.

He also notes that the recent copyright claims have been a drain on his time and resources. It’s not easy to fight a large corporation with lots of resources, especially when he is a small independent developer. The repercussions of this will be more than just a loss for him. It will also be a loss for players, as it means fewer great independent games to play.

It’s not clear when Metro Awakening will be released, but the team hopes to bring it to as many platforms as possible. In the meantime, the team is working on another mainline entry for current-generation consoles and PC. The team hasn’t said when that will be available, but they have confirmed that it is not a replacement for the upcoming VR game. The traditional non-VR game is being developed separately by the team at Vertigo Games.
